If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36
What an amazing Lord’s Day we had with our Vaiden Baptist Church family yesterday! As I awaited sleep last night, my heart was full of thanksgiving. We began the day with Sunday School and our morning worship service. Then yesterday afternoon, we all trekked out to our Family Life Center for hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade ice cream, fireworks and Christian fellowship. Looking around, I noticed that everyone was happy and enjoying themselves and each other as we honored the Lord for the freedoms we enjoy.
There is much in our country that is celebrated for the wrong reasons. I have to say that many times our country’s Fourth of July celebrations do not honor God. Like any holiday in the secular world in which we live, the reasons to celebrate are sometimes distorted and corrupted.
It was my observation last night that the family of God indeed knows Whom has made us free. Lately, we have become more aware of our brothers and sisters in Christ who are persecuted, tortured and killed for their Christianity. We have seen officials in our government who thumb their noses at what we hold dear, and there may be a time coming when we also suffer for our beliefs.
Last night, we were free to assemble and worship together and enjoy the bountiful blessings all around us. We have a beautiful facility in the VBC Family Life Center. We had more than enough for everyone to eat. We were able to bow our heads and thank the Lord for our freedoms. We were there with our fellow believers sharing in love and service to Christ Jesus. Best of all, we know that some were added to the Kingdom of God last night. We are truly blessed to have a pastor that never lets the opportunity slip by to call out to those who are without Christ the Gospel and an invitation to receive Him into their hearts. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
I’m no authority on anything. I’m not a preacher, teacher, or a perfect person. I am a sinner saved by grace through faith. It was nothing that I did, it is the blood of Jesus that has made me free. If you don’t know Him, call out to Him today. Join with a local Bible-believing church so that you can learn about the blessing of salvation through the Lord Jesus. Spend your time with others who do their best to walk in His word. It is the most important decision you will ever make. This life is fleeting. Eternity is not.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
